First go HERE and hire a trainer.
There are four racing characteristics that can be altered with training.
Gate - this is training involving the starting gate.
Turn - training in this area focuses on how well the horse can take a turn.
Straight - this training involves the straight portions of a track.
Finish - how much stamina does the horse have in the last straightaway.
Training is divided into two categories; Yearling and Racing Age.
A yearlings first workout will always be comprised of a the gate plus their surface/distance preference. If you have a yearling who already has a preference (regardless if they've had a formal training session) then they've had one training session. Yearlings may be trained ONCE a month (this is your responsibility), in two of the four characteristics at one time.
Yearling workout request example : Horse's Name in the gate and finish.
Trainer's response: Horse's Name did poorly in the gate today and may require more training, but they finished very well.
Racing Age horses may no longer work in the Gate. Racing Age horses also get to be breezed (short speedy gallop) or worked in hand (longer gallop). These horses can be trained ONCE in the week of a month they do not race in (if they train A, they cannot race in A). Racing age horses can work on one characteristic at a time.
Racing Age request example: Horse's name breezing through a turn.
Trainer's Response: Horse's name turned in a good time and improved their turning skill. Horse's name is ready to be raced.
For racing age horses, a workout session can be harmful as well. The trainer's notes should give you some indication when a horse has reached maximum potential in a skill. If they are trained in a skill they have maxed out, the session could do more harm than good.
Please make a Thread with your Stable as the title. The Trainers will edit your post with their note and then close that post.
